Inspector Sejer and his assistantn Skarre are called in to solve the disppearance of 9-year-old Ida Joner, who was last seen riding her yellow bike in the village. There are other mysteries to be solved at the same time: Tomme, Ida's 18-year-old cousin, is acting strangely. Emil, the large strange man who cannot speak, may know more than he lets on. The mothers are worried and anxious.

This series of Norwegian police procedurals is excellent--very suspenseful, credible, and consistent in its description of how the police attack the various problems.

This is the second of the Fossum books we have read, and we like them both very much.
