Add to the gentle Dr. Siri, the aged Laotian medical examiner created by Colin Cotterill and Precious Ramotswe, the proprietor of the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency in Botswana, a detective who believes that, Like Sherlock Holmes, he has inherited great deductive powers which he uses in Delhi, India. Vish Puri, India's Most Private Investigator, is involved in matrimonial cases too often to please himself, so he is always ready to tackle something more important, like a murder.
In this book, the first of this series, Puri handles several cases which appear at first glance to be insolvable; but with the help of his team he works right through to satisfactory conclusions.
The writing is spritely, the scenes are vividly painted, but the great gift of this series is the way the author inserts his readers right into the middle of Delhi life at different levels on the social scale. With luck, we'll find more of his cases and meet more of his friends and employees.
